Comments: I have a large abdominal hernia and I've asked my surgeon what the benfits of surgery are and the only benefit that he gave me is relief from the discomfort that the hernia causes (I have difficulty lying down, feel like I'm pregnant), I have IBS symptoms and lots of gas, will these symptoms be improved with hernia surgery?

Comments: I'm about to undergo hernia surgery for the second time, the first time was less then 2 years ago. Because I have a hard time understanding why this happened again, especially so soon after the first surgery, the Dr. explained that the first time he did the full incision,(I also had 2 hernias around my belly button), The Dr. has informed me that since this has returned he won't do like the last time, instead he will do it orthoscopicly, but there will be more risk. He told me that's why they didn't do it that way the first time. It's still a mystery as to how this returned as I didn't lift anything too heavy or strain myself...I have a bad back so I'm limited as to how much I can do and lift. I just wonder if rather theen having this surgery again and now with this 'risk', if I could just live with it. My husband keeps telling me horror stories of people letting theirs go and then it turns to gangrene. So I'm really confused but want to do the right thing for my health.

Comments: One year after my fourth inguinal hernia repair I am beginning to experience discomfort in the repaired area and NAUSEA. My surgeon says there is no hernia evident and that is confirmed by a CT Scan. But, clearly, something pulled or caused a loosening of the mesh. How do I deal with the Nausea?

Comments: I have noticed that I have an umbilical hernia for the last several months. I am not yet experiancing any particular problems because of it. I have a question I want to ask. I have a mini trampoline that I want to exercise on for a few minutes each day. Will bouncing on the trampoline accelerate my hernia getting worse? Thanks.Jay

Comments: I’m 29, male from Pakistan. Had mesh surgery for inguinal hernia (LHS) on May 19, 2009 here at PIMS, Islamabad. Life is almost back to normal. No complications. Been feeling severe pain initially in lower abdomen and burning feeling at surgery location if I cough. It’s about 3.5 inches cut I can see at ma skin. Don’t know what they have done inside in details though. Surgery lasted for about 1.5 hour. Remained hospitalized for one day.

Comments: boyfriend had mesh hernia surgery laparascopically and has been in severe pain when urinating; has hugely swollen scrotum; this was explained to his as a simple outpatient procedure - well, he has been back in the hopsital for three days and had to get catheterized and now, off the catheter, is still falling to the floor with pain when he urinates - anyone else had this experience?

Comments: My husband had incisional hernia surgery (lap) on 5/8. He had some complications during surgery with anesthesia so he wound up spending 4 days in the hospital for what he expected to be out-patient or at most a one night stay. So far, his recuperation hasn't been easy, and so I am here searching for information.
